We’re thrilled to share two important wins in our new UUP Agreement—provisions that strengthen career pathways and protect the integrity of teaching across SUNY.
Full-Time Lecturer Ranks – Our new contract creates a true promotional pathway for full-time Lecturers, establishing three successive titles: Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, and Advanced Senior Lecturer. This long‑overdue structure recognizes the professionalism of our teaching faculty and provides meaningful opportunities for advancement, including salary increases tied to promotion.
Holistic Evaluation of Teaching – Student evaluations of teaching can no longer be used as the sole measure of teaching effectiveness. Under the new Agreement, teaching must be evaluated holistically, using multiple indicators that reflect the full scope of instructional work. This is a major step forward in ensuring fair, accurate, and comprehensive assessment of our members’ contributions.
