As you know, we’ve been facing a series of challenges since January 20th. The latest is a move to detain members at one of the campuses where we work. I’m keeping it general for now, so as to protect others in potentially similar situations. In the interest of being prepared for the inevitability of an aggressively expanded ICE presence at our campuses, I am sending you information that some of our members may be interested in exploring. In order to protect ourselves, our work and especially our colleagues during this dangerous time, I urge you to share this as widely as you see fit.
One of the many groups that we’ve connected with is the New York Immigration Coalition, which is hosting a virtual know your rights session on Thursday (11/20) at 6:30 pm. The session will discuss knowing your rights in regard to the U.S. Immigration System, not solely if you are targeted by ICE, but if you wish to be prepared for when we are needed to protect each other.
