UUP offers a medical benefit to UUP members only provided by UNUM through Assist America, that makes active and retired members eligible for medical emergency assistance, when traveling 100 or more miles from home.
Services include:
- Guaranteed hospital admission
- Emergency medical evacuation to a medical facility
- Medically supervised return travel to your home
- Prescription replacement
- Transportation for a friend/relative to get to you if you are alone and expect to be hospitalized more than seven days
- Medical consultation and evaluation
- Medical referrals to Western-trained, English-speaking medical providers
- Care and transport of unattended minor children.

Important:
- The benefit requires members to present their Assist America cards when requesting services. The cards are not mailed automatically. You must call to receive one.
Members must take their Assist America wallet card with them and call (800) 872-1414 in the U.S. or (U.S. access code) + (301) 656-4152. Emergency travel assistance is also available via e-mail at medservices@assistamerica.com.
