Vaccine Petition

Dear Colleagues,

Please see the following from Statewide President, Mr. Fred Kowal:

As you know, we have been fighting to convince the Governor and the state Department of Health to include all of our colleagues who are working on campus directly with students in the 1B category for vaccination. The efforts are being ramped up.

First, I have sent a letter to the Governor demanding that he change the definition of 1B to include our colleagues. Second, we are taking on a petition campaign to deliver a strong message to him.

Please take a moment to sign the petition urging Governor Cuomo to include all in-person higher education staff in the 1B category for vaccination: https://forms.gle/kNpwSCAnRv2UDVgA6

These efforts are part of our ongoing campaign to ensure the health and safety of all of our members and our campus communities. Our “in-person faculty and instructors” are currently eligible for the vaccine, but they are not the only ones who come in contact with students.  There are residential life directors, academic counselors, instructional support staff, academic and professional librarians, financial aid staff, researchers, etc. who should all receive the vaccination.

Please join me.  Take a moment to sign the petition so we can send a strong message to Governor Cuomo. I expect each and every UUP member to sign this petition: It is a simple question of health and safety for us all.

In solidarity,
Fred Kowal
