The first round of the 2025–2026 IDA grant applications is now closed. It ran from October 1, 2025 until 5:00 p.m. on November 14, 2025.

A second round will open in January 2026 and will cover activities that start during the first round but conclude on or after January 1, 2026, as well as projects beginning on or after January 1, 2026, and ending by July 1, 2026. Portal dates for the second round will be announced at a later time.

Applicants are encouraged to review all guidelines carefully and submit their applications promptly.

  1. This is the first round of IDA grant funding for the 2025–2026 UUP contract year.
  2. This round covers projects or events that start between July 2, 2025, and are completed by December 31, 2025.
  3. There will be a second round for activities that start between January 1, 2026, and are completed by July 1, 2026.
  4. If your project’s start date is within the first round but your completion date is during the second round, please apply during the second round.
  5. Applications submitted for dates outside the eligible round will be denied, except for activities that start in the first round and end in the second, which should be submitted in the second round, see rule number four.
  6. The maximum amount eligible for award is $2,000.
  7. Each applicant may apply for up to two activities during the award period.
  8. Each activity (semester, conference, research project, etc…) must be submitted on a separate application. You may not list two conferences on one application, even if they occur at the same time: no exceptions.
  9. Applications with more than one activity will have the second activity denied. The committee will no longer email applicants to correct this issue.
  10. All applications must be fully completed or they will be denied. The committee will no longer email applicants to correct incomplete submissions.
  11. All applications must be typed; handwritten applications will not be accepted. 
  12. You must use the correct form. It is available for download here (IDA Program Application) 
  13. All applications must be submitted via the portal. Applications dropped off in the union office will not be checked and will be disposed of in accordance with Stony Brook Policy EC0025 – Disposal of Protected Information.
