Colleagues,
UUP has concluded their detailed analysis of the NYS Executive Budget for Fiscal Year 2026-27 by the Governor. This covers the typical spending areas but also includes more policy-related proposals as well. We want to recognize Chris Black, Director of Legislative and Political Affairs, to Julia Zaremba, Legislative Representative, and to Alexis Savoie for their detailed work on the hundreds of pages of budget language to find SUNY-related proposals.
UUP is now preparing for testimony, which will take place on February 24, the same day that over 150 UUPers are signed up to come and advocate for our work. It’s a new record for participants! Thanks to all who have signed up and who will be joining in this important work. We have to make gains on what the Governor has proposed, because it’s just not enough — especially given the budget hit that will be coming from the full implementation of the Reconciliation Bill passed by Congress last July.
Best,
Kathleen Kielar
