Time Off for Vaccinations

Dear Colleagues,

Since we have yet to hear from HR as of this time, the Buffalo Center Chapter wants to advised you that effective Monday, March 15th, the governor has approved legislation granting state employees time off to receive the COVID -19 vaccination.

Here is the link: https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/governor-cuomo-signs-legislation-granting-employees-time-receive-covid-19-vaccination.

You are allowed up to 4 hours per shot (utilizing 1/4 hour increments).

This time can be recorded on your time sheet by selecting “Non Chargeable Type”, and then selecting “COVID-19 Vaccination”.

Unfortunately, this benefit is not retroactive to time prior to Monday, 3/15, even though UUP made every possible attempt to make the vaccination part of our members professional obligation, and the university refused.

In Solidarity,

Ken Kern
