Welcome

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the start of a new academic year, one we have never experienced before! UUP’s tagline is “The Union That Makes SUNY Work”, and this holds true as challenges due to the COVID Crisis are being met by our members and indeed are allowing the University at Buffalo to continue to provide academic and professional services. However, as we begin this new academic year, the health and safety of our members remains the highest priority of the Buffalo Center Chapter and UUP Statewide.

UB is encouraging the use of telecommuting option to continue to replace in-person meetings with phone or video conference. While we are hoping many of our members are able to take advantage of the telecommuting option, there are other members who are reporting to campus.

Over the summer, the Buffalo Center Chapter has been providing COVID related information as issues developed. You can refer to our webpage, as well as our Monday Morning Posts, to review these past issues. We will continue to monitor COVID related work condition issues as they are presented.

As a reminder, if you have COVID related questions or concerns, please refer to our COVID Concerns Q&AGuidelines, the list of FPMO’s, and the various university correspondence and links sent to all employees. You also have your Buffalo Center personnel resources available to you including your Department Reps., members of the Chapter’s Health and Safety Committee, Grievance Officers, as well as the Chapter officers. The Buffalo Center Chapter continues to operate virtually, as our physical office currently remains closed.

Looking ahead to the fall 2020 semester, your Buffalo Center has scheduled a full calendar of events including weekly meetings with Chapter Officers, monthly Board Meetings, Department Rep. meetings, Workshops and General Membership meetings.

I am pleased that the Chapter has seen an increase in individual membership participation, in a variety of ways, with your Buffalo Center Chapter of UUP. If you wish to become more involved in some way, please contact us.

“Together We Fight, Together We Win!”

In Solidarity,

Ken Kern
