Privatization. Vouchers. Charter schools. Intolerance. Bullying.
One thing is certain: Words won’t be enough to stop the Trump-DeVos agenda. We need action.
On January 19 — one day before Donald Trump’s inauguration — the Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools will be hosting a national Day of Action. It will be an opportunity for all of us to help organize and take part in local days of action to make it clear that we say “NO!” to the Trump-DeVos agenda for education. So save the date!
By standing up, standing together and standing strong, we can say “NO!” to intolerance, bigotry and bullying. We can say “NO!” to an education secretary with a clear record of hostility toward public schools. We can so “NO!” to a national education agenda focused on taking our public tax dollars and funneling them to the richest families and corporate profiteers.
Instead, we will DEMAND safe and nurturing schools where children can learn without fear of discrimination and harassment. We will work for policies and practices that strengthen our public schools, not dismantle them.
On January 19, join educators, parents and other public school supporters across the nation for a day of strong, solidarity events that will declare our intention to fight back against the Trump-DeVos agenda and to protect our public schools!
In solidarity,
Andrew Pallotta
NYSUT Executive Vice President
P.S.: Save the date — January 19 — to stand up, stand strong and stand together for our public schools!
