All,
I strongly encourage you to engage in the Presidential Search activities recently announced by Jerry Jacobs, Jr. on Friday. This is a pivotal moment for our institution—and our collective voice must be part of shaping its future.
Shared governance is not just a principle—it’s our power. When we participate, we ensure that the next President reflects the values, priorities, and lived experiences of our campus community. Let’s not allow this decision to be made in a vacuum.
Whether you attend a listening session or complete the online feedback survey, your input is essential. If you can’t join the sessions, please take a few minutes to share your perspective through the survey. Every voice counts.
Below is the official invitation that was sent to the UB community on Friday.
Thank you for your voice!
Best,
Kat

————————————————–
Dear Members of the UB Community,
The Presidential Search Committee recently held its first meeting to begin the process of identifying the next President of the University at Buffalo. As we begin the search process, we invite UB faculty, staff and students to share their perspectives, priorities, and aspirations for the university’s future.
For your convenience, we have scheduled virtual listening sessions for faculty, staff and students. The listening sessions provide an opportunity for the members of the search committee and our search firm (Russell Reynolds Associates) to hear directly from UB faculty, staff and students. The search committee is especially interested in institutional opportunities and challenges as well as the presidential leadership qualities most important to the UB community.
Virtual Listening Sessions

In-Person Listening Sessions
In addition, in-person listening sessions open to all members of the university community (faculty, staff and students) will be held on December 3 and 4. The time and place of these sessions will be shared in the coming weeks.
If you are unable to attend a session (virtual or in-person), we welcome your input via our online feedback survey. The feedback survey will remain open throughout the search process. All submissions will be collected confidentially.
Thank you in advance for sharing your perspectives regarding the UB presidential search. We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Jerry Jacobs Jr.
