Members/Students Receive UUP Awards at Fall Delegate Assembly

Dear Colleagues,

Your UUP Buffalo Center was well represented in a variety of awards given out at the recent Fall Delegate Assembly in Albany.

Tom Tucker – Past Chapter President and Past Statewide Officer for Professionals was the recipient of UUP’s the Nina Mitchell Award. The Nina Mitchell Award for Distinguished Service to United University Professions recognizes members of UUP who have served the Union with distinction in their efforts to effect positive contributions in many spheres of union commitment without geographical borders.

Ezra Zubrow – Past Chapter President and Past Statewide Executive Officer was the recipient of UUP’s Pearl Brod Award. This award recognizes UUP retirees who have rendered outstanding volunteer service to their communities and have provided exemplary service to UUP and SUNY after retirement. 

Students Lea Kyle and Zachary Medicis – were recipients of the UUP College Scholarship Fund Undergraduate Scholarship Award. This award was created by the union in 1987 to celebrate its members’ commitment to academic excellence and the life of the mind, and to their endeavors in the promotion of social justice. Up to four one-time scholarships of $3,000 are awarded annually to SUNY undergraduates who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, social justice issues and labor ideals.

Student Anna Tschopp – received the William E. Scheuerman Post Baccalaureate Scholarship Award. This one-time scholarship of $3,000 is awarded annually to full-time SUNY post graduate or professional school students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, social justice issues and labor ideals.
