Welcome Back Members!

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the many UUP Buffalo Center Chapter volunteer members who work to support your terms and conditions of employment as a New York State employee working at the university, I would like to extend a warm welcome and best wishes for the upcoming Academic year!

Through the work of your UUP Buffalo Center Chapter Leadership you may notice a few changes that have been made based on various concerns brought up by you, the UUP Chapter Membership. A few include a redesign to the Clemens stairwell, changes to the management expectations of the cleaning services contract, the extension of the Telecommuting Agreement, and although it will not begin until the 2023-24 academic year, changes to Article 49 removing the exclusion of individual instruction including thesis guidance from the program. Areas of concern which the Chapter continues to work on include parking concerns, health and safety issues, and the continuing negotiations for a new contract.

Personally, I have never been more confident and prouder of our UUP Buffalo Center Chapter Leadership Team (Department Reps, Board Members, Officers, Various Committees, and wide variety of Support Personnel including UUP Central, CWA, and NYSUT), as we begin this Academic Year. Please continue to speak with these fellow UUP Buffalo Center Members and Support Personnel to keep abreast of what’s happing and share any additional workplace concerns. Looking ahead to the Fall 2022 semester, your Buffalo Center Chapter has scheduled a full calendar of events. Please be sure to check the Chapter’s various notifications for updated information and opportunities to join the team!

Our tagline remains “UUP – The Union That Makes SUNY Work!”. As your UUP Buffalo Center Chapter Leadership Team becomes larger and stronger, I encourage you to take a look at what role you may have to offer the Chapter and consider joining our outstanding Leadership Team!

“Together We Fight, Together We Win!”

In Solidarity,

Ken Kern
