Dear Colleagues,
As plans are being made for a greater number of our members returning to campus, remember what UUP has done for you during the COVID Crisis:
1. Many educational institutions cut their budgets that lead to laying off of many faculty and staff. SUNY and UUP worked together to ensure that this would not happen.
2. A first ever, telecommuting agreement that involved ALL unions across the state was established. SUNY has absolutely not wanted this in the past. UUP played an instramental part in getting this telecommuting agreement in place.
3. UUP pushed for stronger, more uniform safety policies across all of SUNY and got them!
4. Free COVID-19 testing on campuses.
5. Prioritized testing throughout the state for ALL SUNY employees.
6. On campus vaccinations for all SUNY students.
7. Purchase of a UUP Membership Database that will help all chapters to better communicate with members and non-members.
8. Establishment of a Health & Safety Committee both within the Chapter and Statewide.
9. Clock stoppage for Faculty and Professionals
10. A respectful, good working relationship with SUNY Chancellor Malatras.
Look for “Call Out” opportunities for you to participate in the weeks ahead, as the Buffalo Center Chapter establishes plans and visions for planning ahead and moving into the Fall semester.
In Solidarity,
Ken Kern
Chapter President
