Update – Congressional Support – NY and SUNY

Dear Colleagues,

Last week we sent out an initiative by UUP President Fred Kowal to gather 10,000 letters to Washington by Monday, February 15 urging congress to pass the Federal COVID-19 Stimulus plan. The good news is the Senate and House have passed a budget resolution allowing the package to pass with a simple majority. While we are getting closer to our goal, there is still more work to do.

The Buffalo Center Chapter is about halfway towards our goal of 900 letters. This is not a partisan issue. The billions of dollars in aid that would come through this bill to New York State, SUNY, and our members is crucial to addressing the economic and health crisis we face.

Please help us over the edge by sending a letter and making a phone call to your elected representatives today (friends and family can help too!).

  • Write a Letter. Send a letter to your Senators and member of Congress regarding President Biden’s Stimulus plan and the need for it to pass. Click here to send your letters today.
  • Send a Social Media Message. Tweet directly at Senator Schumer, Senator Gillibrand and your congressional representative urging them to support the President Biden’s Stimulus bill. Click here for the social media toolkit.
  • Make a phone call. Join UUP colleagues and coalition partners across the state for this urgent and easy action. We will be making three calls to Congress, pushing for the adoption of President Biden’s $1.9 Trillion stimulus package. We will provide the phone numbers and the script; you provide the energy and commitment! Register here
