Dear Colleagues,
Your Buffalo Center Chapter will be presenting two workshops (one geared towards Academics, and the other geared towards Professional staff) about the Risks and Possibilities that Artificial Intelligence will have upon your work. UUP certainly sees the possibilities of integrating AI into our classrooms and work, but also sees that there are many risks as well. Come learn, as well as offer your thoughts on how AI threatens intellectual property, professional judgement, and institutional data.
UUP Forum on Artificial Intelligence for Academics
Join fellow UUP members and statewide VP for Academics Alissa Karl to discuss some of the key issues and challenges that academics around the country are addressing as Artificial intelligence technologies are introduced into our work. We’ll cover topics including impacts on intellectual property and copyright, academic freedom, and the ways in which UUP’s power to address terms and conditions of employment applies to AI in the workplace. The forum is open to all UUP Members, and the focus will be specifically on topics related to Academics.
Session: Wednesday, November 6, 2:30 – 4:00 PM: via Zoom
Risks and Possibilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Professionals
Join UUP Vice Presidents Alissa Karl and Carolyn Kube for a discussion with professionals on policy development, selection, and use of Artificial Intelligence tools in the workplace. We’ll explore how ethical considerations around AI figure in our workplaces; share resources for professional development; and discuss how UUP’s power to address professional terms & conditions of employment is relevant when it comes to AI. Come share your perspectives and experiences to help inform our union’s response to AI. All UUP Members are welcome, and the focus will be on topics related to professional staff.
Session: Thursday, November 21, 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Zoom
Please submit any other questions you may have in advance and RSVP your attendance (By Friday, October 31st), for membership verification, and to receive your meeting invitation (which will include the details on how to join the meeting).
