Dear Colleagues,
Recently, the Chapter was informed of a message sent by a supervisor which included the following:
1. “All contractual increases (across-the boards, discretionary and compression) are currently paused.“
and
2. “If an employee wishes to submit a self-nomination they are welcome to do so but it is not required nor is there a October 30th deadline.”
While UUP has received notification of delays to the 2% across-the-board salary increase, UUP has NOT received notification (as of this date), of any delay to the DSI program. It has been confirmed that the university has received no payroll guidance relative to the payment of DSI, which is late, so the university is making an assumption that there is a disruption (pause).
While the self-nomination is not a requirement for DSI consideration, the opportunity to do so was presented, reviewed, and discussed at the October 6th Labor Management Meeting. It was made clear that notification on the ability to self-nominate, (including the October 30th deadline date), was going to be sent to the union membership.
The Buffalo Center Chapter’s purpose of identifying a deadline date was made based on past practice, and out of a concern for both the possibility of a limited time frame for the completion of DSI awards, and to allow a fair and equitable opportunity for UUP members to inform their immediate supervisor of their desire to be considered for DSI once details of the program had been identified.
UUP welcomes the opportunity by those departments who would allow additional time for their UUP staff to self-nominate.
In Solidarity,
Ken Kern
Chapter President
