Dear Colleagues,
The University will be participating in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) from March 5 through May 11. During this period, first‑year and senior undergraduate students will be invited to participate. NSSE is a nationally recognized survey that provides valuable insight into students’ academic and co‑curricular experiences, including engagement in learning, interactions with faculty, and perceptions of campus support. Results from NSSE are used to:
- Inform student success and retention initiatives
- Support program review and assessment
- Benchmark UB’s student experience against peer institutions
- Guide institutional planning and data‑informed decision‑making
Because many of you work directly with students, we encourage those in student‑facing roles to help reinforce the importance of participation by reminding eligible students—when appropriate—to complete the survey if they receive an invitation. Encouragement from trusted staff can have a meaningful impact on response rates.
To support these efforts, I will be sharing:
A 1-slide PowerPoint that can be used or adapted for student meetings or presentations
An 8×10 printable poster that can be displayed on bulletin boards or in student spaces
Thank you for your support in helping us collect meaningful feedback that reflects the experiences of our students.
Best regards,
Melinda
