Items of Collegiality

  • Wishing everyone a happy Fall, with good health and luck as we approach the second half of the semester!

Old Business

  • UUP reiterates its request for a comprehensive budget report including any report that SUNY Cortland has submitted to State and/or Federal agencies as a part of its reporting requirements.
  • Please share a consolidated operating budget for both FY2025 and FY2026. Reports must include:
    1. Detailed breakdowns of campuswide revenues and expenses (including auxiliary enterprises like housing and bookstores)
    2. Year-over-year deficits or variances
    3. Annual spending on capital projects
    4. Staff and faculty FTE or headcount
    5. Transfers to or from another SUNY campus or SUNY System Administration
    6. Annual debt service (both principal and interest)
    7. Debt service is typically reported in two categories: campus housing (funded by campuses) and educational facilities (funded by the state).

New Business

  • UUP seeks clarification on the Cortland Separation Report
    1. Does this list identify actual separations of employees?
    2. Does the report include employees whose appointments expired and were subsequently re-appointed to new terms?
  • UUP has been asked to reinquire about evaluation criteria and procedure for PRODIG+ fellows
    1. Can we confirm that the goal of the PRODIG+ Program is to support the hiring of Tenure Track Faculty?
    2. By what process does a PRODIG+ Fellow shift from the fellowship to assistant professor on campus?
    3. What are the criteria for such a shift in rank?
  • Changes to the faculty handbook
    1. reminder that changes to the faculty handbook that could impact bargainable terms and conditions should be discussed with UUP before any final changes are made to the handbook.
    2. changes in CTE portfolio requirements: In the comprehensive teaching evaluation system under section four, course materials, this section was removed. UUP is interested in why this change occurred.
      1. UUP seeks to confirm that teaching faculty do not need to utilize Anthology as the tool for CTEs.
      2. Specifically, we seek to confirm that teaching faculty do not need to utilize Anthology CTEs or predetermined questions regardless of whether you are on your third time teaching a course.
  • Issues related to Instructors
    1. Department requirements for research
    2. Criteria for promotion to Assistant Professor
