UUP College Scholarship Fund Undergraduate Award

The UUP College Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to a maximum of four SUNY undergraduates who excel academically and have demonstrated dedication to the goals and ideals of the labor movement.

Applicants must be full-time students enrolled at SUNY state-operated schools and have at minimum a 3.75 grade point average (GPA).

Steve Street Award

The Steve Street Award is a one-time $500 scholarship open to undergraduate students enrolled at a SUNY campus. To qualify for the award, students—either a single student or a group of students—must have created a paper or documented any project related to social justice issues or topics. This scholarship is available to full-time and part-time students.

The award is named for Street, a beloved UUP contingent faculty member who taught at SUNY Brockport and SUNY Buffalo State University; he died of cancer in 2012. He was the 2010 recipient of UUP’s Fayez Samuel Award for Courageous Service by Part-Time Academic and Professional Faculty.

The scholarship is funded by contributions from UUP members and their families.

William Scheuerman Post-Baccalaureate Scholarship Award

One-time scholarships of $3,000 are awarded to SUNY post-graduate students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, social justice issues, and labor ideals. A Selection Committee will review all applications and choose candidates to be interviewed. The number of scholarships awarded will be determined by the Trustees of the UUP College Scholarship Fund.
