UUP last month hired a director of finance to oversee the union’s fiscal operations.
Tina George — who has more than 20 years of experience as an accountant and controller — comes to UUP from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. At DEC, George was an accountant responsible for the budget preparation of grants totaling $30 million and the financial administration of environmental contracts and grants. She replaces comptroller Katherine Trudeau, who left UUP in January to serve as director of finance for Catholic Charities.
At UUP, George’s responsibilities include budget and financial statement preparation, financial analysis including pro forma statements, and audits of multiple funds. She will also handle payroll and benefits administration, including the employee pension and 401(k) plans.
Prior to working at DEC, George was a controller and operational auditor at Stochos Inc., in Schenectady, where she handled general accounting services such as accounts payable and receivable, financial statement preparation, and sales tax reporting.
George graduated from Empire State College in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
“Tina brings years of fiscal experience to UUP and I am certain she will serve the membership effectively,” UUP Treasurer Rowena Blackman-Stroud said. “Although Kathy Trudeau has moved on to a challenging and spiritually rewarding position with Catholic Charities, she will be remembered for her invaluable service and her loyalty and dedication during her17 years at UUP.”
