New legislative intern joins UUP

Sally Frank, a student at UAlbany’s Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, has joined UUP as the union’s 2009-10 John M. Reilly legislative intern.

Frank is working 20 hours a week for32 weeks during the academic year. Her duties include tracking proposed legislation, researching and analyzing issues for potential legislation, arranging visits to lawmakers’ offices and other duties associated with UUP’s Legislation Department.

Frank is pursuing a master’s degree in public administration, with concentrations in policy process and education policy. She earned her bachelor’s degree in public policy with a concentration in education policy from UAlbany.

Prior to joining UUP, Frank worked in the Capitol for Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D-Queens) and served as associate director of communications and legislative affairs and as director of academic affairs for the SUNY Student Assembly. She also interned for the Alliance for Quality Education in Albany.

The union’s legislative internship is named in honor of the late John Reilly, who served as UUP president from 1987-93.
