Randall Craig, a professor of English at UAlbany, recently received the Excellence in Service Award and Chancellor’s Award for his contributions to his discipline. Craig’s primary teaching and research interests are in the areas of British fiction, Victorian literature and narrative theory. His recent work has been in the field of law and literature, and he is currently working on a study of cultural, political, legal and literary narratives written both by and about Caroline Norton. | |
Andre Filiatrault, a professor in the University at Buffalo’s department of civil, structural and environmental engineering and director of the university’s Structural Earthquake Engineering Simulation Laboratory, recently earned the university’s Outstanding Researcher/ Scholar Award in recognition of the contributions he has made to his field, including inventions and the significant honors he has received from his peers. | |
David Pettit, a supervisor in the department of Clinical Pathology/Microbiology and Virology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, has received the 2008 President’s Employee Recognition Award as a Supervisor of the Year. The award recognizes outstanding supervisors who demonstrate exemplary problem solving and leadership skills and who encourage team building, collegiality and productivity. | |
Clark Zlotchew of SUNY Fredonia was recently promoted to the rank of distinguished teaching professor. Zlotchew is an expert scholar of the Argentinian writer, Jorge Luis Borges, and has written 14 books and published translations of the works of two Nobel Laureates: Pablo Neruda and Juan Ramón Jiménez. |
