AFT Secretary-Treasurer Nat LaCour was recently named the 2007 David S. Holmes Labor Leader of the Year by the National Black Caucus of State Legislators (NBCSL).

The award recognizes outstanding efforts and legislative support of the NBCSL Labor Round Table by a current union member or leader. The recipient of the Labor Leader of the Year Award exhibits extraordinary leadership and dedication to the advancement of the caucus mission and goals.

“There are few honors that are as meaningful as those given by your contemporaries,” said LaCour of the award. “NBCSL and I share a dedication to the support and advancement of public education.”

LaCour added that he will use the “weight and meaning” of the award to continue AFT’s efforts to improve public education and champion the concerns of America’s working families.
