UUP joined a crowd of about 300 in support of nurses calling for an end to mandatory overtime.

The nurses — who are members of NYSUT, the New York State Nurses Association, Public Employees Federation and 1199 SEIU Nurses Alliance — contend that patients are at greater risk for medical errors when nurses are forced to work overtime.

In June, the Assembly approved a bill barring employers from requiring nurses to work overtime.
