Spotlight shines on UUP members

WEINBAUM

ZUBROW

The Voice is pleased to recognize two members for accomplishments on campus and in their communities.

• Batya Weinbaum, an adjunct instructor at Empire State College, recently earned a second-place award for her “Memoirs of an Academic Career” from Femspec, an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring gender through speculative means in a variety of mediums. Weinbaum also published “Creating New Scholars: Using Scholarly Journals to Teach About the Nature of Thinking in Undergraduate Coursework” in the Journal of Scholarly Publishing (April 2011), on how to use journals in composition classes.

• Ezra Zubrow, a University at Buffalo archeologist of international renown, was recently elected a Fellow of the scholarly Society of Antiquaries of London, the world’s premiere learned society for heritage. Fellows are elected by existing members of the society in recognition of their significant achievements in the heritage field. Zubrow is a professor in UB’s anthropology and geology departments, and a senior research scientist at the university’s National Center for Geographic Information Analysis Laboratory.
