Sign up now: NYSUT symposium focuses on ‘Ending the Gap’

“Every Child Counts” is the theme of NYSUT’s “Ending the Gap” symposium Oct. 25-27, featuring a lineup of nationally known researchers, policymakers and other advocates for change.

“Closing the achievement gap is not only a goal, but a responsibility of our union,” NYSUT President Richard Iannuzzi said. “Too many of New York’s students — predominantly children of color — are being left behind with low test scores, high drop-out rates and limited opportunities for success.”

The symposium, to be held at The Desmond in Albany, will include discourse on career and technical education; language proficiency; teacher recruitment and retention; and ways to improve graduation rates.
