It is my pleasure to forward you this link to a just-issued UAlbany press release entitled “Three Voices Grant Program Offers Research Funding for UAlbany Emeriti”: http://www.albany.edu/news/68948.php
The University at Albany Emeritus Center will administer the new endowment designed to promote and support the three major components of the University’s mission – teaching, research and service – for emeriti.
The Three Voices Grant Program, established through the generous support of Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Emeritus Center Founding President William Reese II, Ph.D., allows retired faculty and professional staff who hold emeritus status to apply for grants based on projects and/or activity they are undertaking during their retirement. The University at Albany Foundation is the endowment custodian.
Emeritus Center President Sorrell Chesin believes that this grant program is rather unique and that the Center is breaking new ground in engaging and encouraging retired professors, administrators and professional staff to continue their important work.
The following link to the UAlbany Emeritus Center website contains detailed information on this new initiative as well as a link to download an application for the Three Voices Grant Program: http://www.albany.edu/emerituscenter/three-voices.php
Feel free to contact UAlbany Emeritus Center President Sorrell Chesin at schesin@albany.edu with any questions you may have, especially if you are interested in starting a similar program at your campus.
I am sending you this information to keep you abreast of innovative developments by SUNY retiree programs and organizations.
If your campus program or organization has or launches a unique or innovative initiative for its retiree members that could be duplicated at other campuses, feel free to send me information about it that I can share with all of the members of this listserv.
Such an exchange of ideas is one of the purposes of the SUNY Retirees Service Corps.
Thank you all for your service on behalf of State University of New York retirees.
