{"id":5864,"date":"2023-05-01T09:54:05","date_gmt":"2023-05-01T13:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/?p=5864"},"modified":"2025-06-30T10:56:47","modified_gmt":"2025-06-30T14:56:47","slug":"we-need-you-and-we-need-you-in-large-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/2023\/05\/01\/we-need-you-and-we-need-you-in-large-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"WE NEED YOU AND WE NEED YOU IN LARGE NUMBERS!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Dear Colleagues,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We need you, your colleagues, family, and friends to attend the <strong>CONTRACT SOLIDARITY PICNIC\/RALLY<\/strong> that will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023 in front of Rockwell Hall at Buffalo State, 1300 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14222 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.&nbsp; <strong>This is a family friendly event.<\/strong>&nbsp; There will be a Bounce House available for children as well as food and beverages for lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please wear something <strong>RED<\/strong>. &nbsp;UUP T-shirts and signs will be available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s come together UB<strong> Strong<\/strong> along with Buffalo State, Buffalo HSC, Fredonia, Geneseo, Empire &amp; Alfred State to show our support for the best SUNY contract! &nbsp;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Statewide president Fred Kowal, chief negotiator Bret Benjamin, and a few contract team members will be in attendance as well!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Yes\u2026it\u2019s a Saturday.&nbsp;&nbsp; But\u2026the state thinks we don\u2019t care about whatever they put on the table.&nbsp; They don\u2019t think we care!!!&nbsp; We do care\u2026<strong>NOW LET\u2019S SHOW THEM HOW MUCH WE CARE AT THIS RALLY!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The state isn\u2019t even offering a percentage increase that keeps up with inflation;&nbsp; nor is it even considering longevity pay.&nbsp;If you care about your paycheck and paying for your mortgages\/rent, childcare, kids\u2019 college, utilities, etc\u2026.<strong>you\u2019ll show!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you care about telecommuting being more formal than your supervisor\u2019s whim\u2026<strong>you\u2019ll show!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>If you care about the clinical and adjunct\/part-time faculty members getting job security\u2026<strong>you\u2019ll show!!!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We all need to be united &amp; we all need to be at this Rally!!!&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State lawmakers gave themselves a 29% pay increase\u2026.yet offer us MUCH, MUCH LOWER.&nbsp; We should be insulted and extremely angry at their proposals!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Show up and let them hear our united voices!!!&nbsp; A couple of hours at this picnic\/rally will really make a difference in this contract,&nbsp; <strong>IF WE HAVE PEOPLE SHOW UP!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To attend the Contract Solidarity Picnic\/Rally on Saturday, 5\/6\/23, 11:00 AM in front of Rockwell Hall, please register by clicking here:&nbsp; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSf8yhE5M-v-fnBDIOmhOG-THwmx0mYtWY7YBgTHTVMcQ9ctOQ\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UUP Can Count On Me to attend the WNY Contract Rally (May 6) (google.com)<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More information can be found in the attached flyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your Contract!
