Experts will come together on October 19th at Buffalo State College <\/strong>to take part in a roundtable discussion about how racism (direct and indirect) negatively impacts mental health and how to make our mental health care systems more inclusive for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LOCATION <\/strong>\u2013 Costello Hall, Jacqueline Vito LoRusso Alumni & Visitors Center at Buffalo State College<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DATE\/TIME \u2013 <\/strong>October 19, 2022\/11:30 AM to 2:00 PM<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join anytime between 11:30 AM and 12:15 PM to enjoy lunch and benefits tables, followed by the panel discussion to begin at 12:30 PM.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Panelists will engage on the evidence linking racism to mental health outcomes and the research, policy, and education priorities necessary to effect change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will begin with a panel discussion addressing racism and the harmful effects it has on mental health; the effects of white supremacist violence on individuals, families, and communities near and far; and novel approaches undertaken by researchers, community organizers, and mental health practitioners to bridge gaps in access to effective and culturally competent mental health treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal is to make mental health equity a major priority for UUP, SUNY and the state of New York, while also contributing to the national work on the mental health crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
