{"id":2833,"date":"2020-04-01T14:05:00","date_gmt":"2020-04-01T18:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/?p=2833"},"modified":"2020-06-12T14:26:01","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T18:26:01","slug":"medical-emergency-assistance-benefit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/2020\/04\/01\/medical-emergency-assistance-benefit\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Emergency Assistance Benefit"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>UUP offers a medical benefit to <strong>UUP members only<\/strong> provided by UNUM through Assist America, that makes active and retired members eligible for medical emergency assistance, when traveling 100 or more miles from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Services include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Guaranteed hospital admission<\/li><li>Emergency medical evacuation to a medical facility<\/li><li>Medically supervised return travel to your home<\/li><li>Prescription replacement<\/li><li>Transportation for a friend\/relative to get to you if you are alone and expect to be hospitalized more than seven days<\/li><li>Medical consultation and evaluation<\/li><li>Medical referrals to Western-trained, English-speaking medical providers<\/li><li>Care and transport of unattended minor children.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participation is free. Call the UUP Benefit Trust Fund at (800) 887-3863, or visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assistamerica.com\/\">assistamerica.com<\/a> for details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Important:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The benefit requires members to present their Assist America cards when requesting services. The cards are not mailed automatically.&nbsp; <strong>You must call to receive one.<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Members must take their Assist America wallet card with them and call (800) 872-1414 in the U.S. or (U.S. access code) + (301) 656-4152.
