{"id":1936,"date":"2018-07-19T13:22:14","date_gmt":"2018-07-19T17:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/?p=1936"},"modified":"2020-05-15T12:10:07","modified_gmt":"2020-05-15T16:10:07","slug":"urgent-information-on-new-choice-ny-spam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uuphost.org\/buffalo\/2018\/07\/19\/urgent-information-on-new-choice-ny-spam\/","title":{"rendered":"Urgent Information on New Choice NY Spam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><em><strong>Please see the following message from Statewide President, Fred Kowal.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">I am writing to you today concerning two important issues.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">First, several chapters have reported that members are receiving an email from a group called <i>New Choice NY<\/i>.\u00a0 Please ask your colleagues to delete these spam messages. \u00a0New Choice NY is an anti-union organization which was recently created post-Janus specifically to mount a campaign to encourage members to resign their union membership. We are currently working with SUNY and GOER to address this spam distribution.\u00a0 Please be advised that not all members are receiving this message because some spam filters are catching it.\u00a0 If members have questions regarding their membership with UUP, they can call UUP\u2019s Membership Line (518-640-6678) between 9 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Secondly, by now all members and non-members should have received a letter from me via USPS. This bulk mailing included a copy of UUP\u2019s updated membership card. Many members recommitted prior to the mailing. If they have already recommitted, they do not need to do so again.
