Phone Bank to Save Medicaid!
As you likely know, Congress is currently debating a big bill that has huge budget implications for us all (more details below if you would like to read them). UUP is asking all members to raise their voices and join a campaign to let legislators know we oppose the bill.
These actions are needed quite urgently (a vote on the bill is being pushed for 4th July) so if you can spare time this evening, tomorrow evening, or Thursday evening from 6-8pm please sign up to join a campaign headed by the AFL-CIO in NY, or by AFT (Tuesday and Wednesday only). You will be trained to make calls to fellow union members in areas of the country/state whose legislators we need to vote NO on the bill.
Click HERE to register for the NYS AFL-CIO phone banks from Tuesday July 1st through Thursday, July 3, from 6 – 8 PM. You can join from anywhere. All you need is a computer and a phone.
Click Here to register for the AFT phone bank Tuesday, July 1st through Wednesday, July 2nd, from 6 – 8 PM. You can join from anywhere. All you need is a computer and a phone.
It is important to note that we only need a few congressional members to oppose the bill, and legislators track the number of contacts they receive. That is to say your efforts will ne meaningful!
Thanks to anyone who can help,
Sincerely, Susan

About this event
Congress will soon vote on whether to advance a budget resolution that would take away nearly a trillion dollars of support and assistance from everyday people, including the largest proposed cuts to Medicaid in history.
This budget would enact more than $1 trillion in cuts to vital public programs their own constituents depend on, including Medicaid, food assistance, and education, to help fund their massive tax giveaway for the ultra-wealthy and big corporations.
Join MoveOn, Working Families Power, Indivisible, Community Change Action, and Public Citizen for a national phone bank to Medicaid recipients urging them to call their Senators ahead of the upcoming budget vote to stop the cuts and save Medicaid!
