\nUUP DELEGATE ASSEMBLY Update<\/strong>
\nAt the Fall 2016 Delegate Assembly, a constitutional amendment was passed by the body that requires all chapters to have an elected\u00a0OFFICER for RETIREES\u00a0by\u00a0JUNE 1, 2017<\/span>. The new Officer for Retirees<\/strong> can be an Active or Retired Member. The Winter 2017 Delegate Assembly<\/strong> met January 28-30, 2017 in Saratoga Springs NY.
\nNYS Comptroller, Thomas diNapoli, addressed the delegates at the assembly and acknowledged UUPers\u00a0as front-line leaders on our campuses. His belief is that the NYS legislature \u201cwill be very open\u201d to UUP\u2019s advocacy this year, and encouraged our members to advocate with optimism and certainty. \nChapter Awards<\/strong>
\nThe\u00a0Lou Cammarosano Award<\/strong>\u00a0was presented to the Stony Brook HSC Chapter of UUP by NYSUT in recognition of the chapter\u2019s outstanding Improvement and Leadership during the calendar year. Only one other UUP Chapter, Upstate Medical Center, received this award this year. A plaque was presented which is displayed proudly in our chapter office.<\/u><\/u>
\nFor the 16th\u00a0year, the SB HSC Chapter of UUP was awarded the \u00a0Abel Blattman Award<\/strong>\u00a0by NYSUT\u00a0 for the chapter\u2019s sustained contributions to VOTE\/COPE and their commitment to political advocacy.<\/p>\n
