Margaret “Meg” Stolee, assistant professor emerita at SUNY Geneseo, passed away on October 9.
Meg was a member of the Geneseo faculty from 1985 until her retirement in 2018. A graduate of Bryn Mawr College and Duke University, her research interests focused on Russia, comparative revolutions, and European social history. Meg received the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Faculty Service (2010) and the President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advising (2002). Among her many contributions to Geneseo, she was an active member of United University Professions and served in several leadership roles, most notably as Geneseo chapter president.
A celebration of Meg’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 30, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Big Tree Inn, 46 Main St. in Geneseo. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in support of the Geneseo History Department may be made through the Geneseo Foundation, 1 College Circle, Geneseo, NY 14454.
