GUIDELINES FOR UUP CHAPTER WEBSITE

GUIDELINES FOR UUP BINGHAMTON CHAPTER WEBSITE

 

1.      The Chapter Webmaster will act as the Administrator of the site.

2.      The Chapter President will act as the Publisher of the site.

3.      The site will be open to anyone.

4.      Any UUP-represented member at Binghamton may request a username and password. The request must be accompanied by a valid binghamton.edu email address. The username must be the user’s real name.

5.      Only individuals who are represented by UUP at Binghamton can be given a username and password.

6.      A username and password will allow users to post comments or to join in forums.

a.      posts may be responses to any other posted material on the site or may be new content in forums

b.      posts must be related to one of the following areas

                                                              i.      UUP

                                                            ii.      Binghamton Chapter of UUP

                                                          iii.      Labor-related topics

                                                          iv.      Social Justice topics

                                                            v.      Binghamton University

7.      All posts must be attributable by a real name; no aliases and no anonymous posts will be allowed.

a.      individuals are encouraged to provide their department or other identifying information

b.      individuals who believe that attribution may harm their employment status may request an exception from the Publisher with appeals as noted below

8.      Guidelines for posting will include

a.      no personal attacks

b.      no use of profanity

c.      no posting of any material that could be perceived as pornographic

d.      no posting of any material that could be perceived as racially and/or culturally insensitive

9.      Posts deemed by the Publisher not to meet stated guidelines will be deleted.

a.      Individuals who have a post deleted will be sent an email by the Publisher with the reasons and the mechanism for appeal

                                                              i.      Appeals can be made to the Chapter Vice Presidents

                                                            ii.      Appeals from the decision of the Chapter Vice Presidents can be made to the Chapter Executive Board

b.      Individual who have a second post deleted will be sent an email by the Publisher with the mechanism for appeal, and access to posting will be removed for one week

c.      Individuals who have a third post deleted will be sent an email by the Publisher with the mechanism for appeal, and access will be denied indefinitely

10. Only Chapter Officers or the Newsletter Editor may post ‘News’ items

11. Only Executive Board members may post blog entries.

12. Other UUP-represented members may request a blog or request a “News” item be posted by contacting the Publisher.

13. Blogs, forums and news items will be archived after no postings are made for thirty days.

14. The current Publisher of the site is Darryl Wood (dwood@binghamton.edu).

15. The current Administrator of the site is Jim Dix (dix@binghamton.edu).
